Watch out for one-of-a-kind, in-game events

We’ve all been there. We find a game that, not only, reels us in but refuses to release us from its clutch. In the beginning, all was well as you excitedly played to advance to the next level. Afterall, those candies aren’t going to collect themselves.

In all the excitement surrounding your gradual ascent to gaming royalty, you hit the wall. The wall of repetitiveness, predictability, and—dare we say it—boredom. Game developers recognize this conundrum and have redeemed those moments through “in-game events.”

At one point, these game enhancements were merely aligned with holidays and special events. However, players have grown to expect them, with the events becoming welcomed aspects of their favorite games. Players want their experiences spiced up with new challenges, opportunities for unexpected rewards, and varied changes to keep them guessing. Even limited-time sales events can offer a chance to level-up for a fraction of the normal cost.

Players who love their games but need to keep game play fresh and interesting will find in-game events a welcomed experience to shake their worlds up. In honor of this game changing (pun intended) twist to gaming, we are calling out some upcoming events on some of our most popular games.

Minecraft Dungeons (Ultimate Edition for Windows)

What a cool milestone. Celebrate Minecraft Dungeons reaching 15 million players during its Festival of Frost wintery, in-game event. From February 8 to February 21, conquer the chilly challenges and reap the rewards.

Candy Crush Saga

Just in time for the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, Candy Crush Saga has rolled out its games so you can exercise your own competitive spirit. All your favorite characters are geared up to compete in different winter sports. Want Tiffi to ski jump off an ice cream mountain? How about giving Yeti a hand at curling? Join the action between February 7 to March 5.

Forza Horizon 5

It’s time to represent. Forza Horizon 5 invites you to enter the Horizon World Cup in-game event, a global contest featuring France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Join in the fun all month by completing races in cars representing major manufacturers from across the globe. Completing these events every week will grant points to the home country of the car the player was driving. 

Mystery Manor

In Mystery Manor, you search for hidden objects by exploring the numerous rooms of the manor and unraveling the mysteries surrounding the strange events of this extraordinary home. Join the Full Moon in-game event where the power of the full moon unleashes monsters to roam the manor’s grounds. Explore event-themed rooms, collect special items, and banish a host of unnerving monsters. With challenges tied to the core story of the game, the event runs from February 12 to February 22.

March of Empires

It’s happening. The Realms are being invaded by hordes of Vikings and it is your sacred duty to save the day. Lead your army into battle to destroy their camps and retrieve stolen treasures, which may include items of immense power. Lead your glory march and claim what is rightfully yours.

Big Farm: Mobile Harvest

Big Farm: Mobile Harvest presents its Tropical Farm in-game event. Escape to a tropical island farm where you nurture exotic animals, stock the beach bar with tropical fruits, and build up the island of your dreams while earning great rewards along the way. The Tropical Farm event ends February 21.

Raid: Shadow Legends

A new champion fusion awaits you. In Raid: Shadow Legends, participate in in-game events, vanquish nerve-wracking foes, and level up your champions. Will you be able to fuse your heroes, while obtaining the legendary Karato Foxhunter before time runs out? The event runs from February 10 to February 27.

Asphalt 8

Asphalt 8 loves its racers. So much so they want to celebrate Valentine’s Day through a nine-day tournament. The in-game event offers generous prizes and extra, easy-to-meet rewards (now, that’s love). The Valentine’s tournament event runs February 14 to February 22.

Homicide Squad

Homicide Squad offers its latest mystery in its Death on Broadway in-game event. Who’s to blame for the tragic demise of a Beijing opera performer who recently reported that someone was trying to steal an expensive, culturally significant artifact from the production? Could it be one of two new characters? Collect special prizes and medal boosters while you solve this dark, intriguing mystery. The Death on Broadway event runs February 7 to February 28.
