Survivors from the original movie—Sidney Prescott, Gale Weathers, and Deputy Dewey Riley—are pulled back into the fray as Ghostface goes after teen relatives of the original killers. As always, no one is safe, but let’s see if our original survivors have the upper hand this time around.

West Side Story

60 years after the release of the first feature-length adaptation of “West Side Story,” Steven Spielberg directs and co-produces a reimagined version, which is more closely aligned to the original 1957 stage musical. Lovers of the original film will find back stories of beloved characters, Puerto Rican and Latinx actors portraying the Sharks and Sharks-adjacent characters, and the inclusion of Oscar winner Rita Morena in a significant role rather than a quick cameo. Of note, Spielberg insisted on honoring the Spanish language by including more Spanish dialogue and no subtitles. The highly anticipated feature has been nominated for Best Picture for the 2022 Academy Awards.

Just when Noa has given up on men and the chance to find love, she meets the man of her dreams in the middle of her grocery run. However, she quickly learns this meet cute may be quickly turning into a cannibalistic situation. Has she found Prince Charming, Hannibal Lector, or just a plain old weirdo? Only time will tell.

After a pilot crash lands, he finds the wounded man in his family’s garage only to learn the pilot is him from the future. The two embark on a journey to the past to work closely with their father on a secret mission to save the world. “The Adam Project” stars Ryan Reynolds, Mark Ruffalo, Zoe Saldana, and Jennifer Garner.

Dog

And now there’s Briggs and Lulu. “Dog” is the story of two former, albeit rough around the edges Army Rangers who journey down the Pacific Coast to attend the funeral of a fellow hero. Through a series of unfortunate mishaps, battles of the strongest will, and a few broken laws, the relationship morphs into a “who’s taming who” love. Channing Tatum stars and co-directs.

Gold

Can the idea of untold fortunes and humanity go hand in hand? “Gold” addresses the notion head on with this Australian dystopian thriller. Two drifters discover the largest gold nugget ever found within unwelcoming desert terrain. One man volunteers to stay behind as the other leaves to seek an excavator to transport their shared treasure. The viewer watches the man left behind physically and mentally deteriorate as he fights to survive with minimal food and water, impossible sandstorms, and particularly gruesome, hungry wildlife. This exercise in human nature stars Zac Efron and Anthony Hayes.
